Adobe Acrobat 8.0 Standard
Distiller opens OK, but when you try to use it the program does not generate a PDF and you get this error (doc file):
%%[ Error: undefined; OffendingCommand: ÐÏࡱá ]%%
%%[ Flushing: rest of job (to end-of-file) will be ignored ]%%
%%[ Warning: PostScript error. No PDF file produced. ] %%
or this error (docx file):
%%[ Error: undefined; OffendingCommand: PK ]%%
%%[ Flushing: rest of job (to end-of-file) will be ignored ]%%
%%[ Warning: PostScript error. No PDF file produced. ] %%
I’m not sure exactly what causes this error, but I was testing with a Word 2007 doc and docx file and after reading the documentation for Acrobat I see that Distiller is not listed as a preferred method of converting an Office document to PDF. Here are the preferred methods:
- PDFMaker: Within the authoring application, in the PDF toolbar and on the Adobe PDF menu.
- Adobe PDF printer: Within the authoring application, in the Print dialog box.
- Drag and drop: On the desktop, in Windows Explorer, or in the Finder.
- Context menu: On the desktop, in Windows Explorer, or in the Finder (by right-clicking/Control-clicking).
So, just use those if you can. I know of other people who had alot of docs to convert who made a macro or batch job to do it as well. Good luck!
