Android Calendar activesync issue

Error ID: 3005

Unexpected Exchange mailbox Server error: Server: [servername] User: [username] HTTP status code: [500]. Verify that the Exchange mailbox Server is working correctly.

On the device you’ll see an exclamation point next to the Sync icon at the top of the screen.  When you pull it down, you see an error under the Calendar sync section that says “Client/server conversion error”

The 3005 errors were filling up my logs every 5min as the user’s Android device was trying to sync with Exchange Server.  There’s probably a couple things which could cause this error, but…in my case it was a bad calendar item that was causing problems.  I could see an EXCDO error on the Exchange server which indicated which item was erroring out.

First thing you do is make sure you’re running the latest version of your software. (Click on Updates when you’re in the Settings page).  Then, delete the calendar item (though you may not have to) and delete the Exchange account from the device.  Then go into Manage Applications and clear the cache for the Calendar (it is under Running items) and then Force stop it. Add Exchange back to the device and resync and it should be good to go.
