My coworker has a Blackberry Bold phone on the AT&T network and one day it started saying “Congestion” when he tried to place a phone call.
The reason for this is probably due to too many 3G devices on AT&T’s network nowadays. I imagine that the network chooses blocks of devices to deny service to on a rolling basis and then waits for the customers to complain and issues credits. This way they provide a quality service to the other devices on the network and are able to budget for the complainers’ credits.Â
What can I do?
1. Switch your device to 2G mode under Settings–>Options–>Mobile Network
2. Call AT&T and complain. Maybe they will upgrade their tower/network faster…one can hope!
i have a blackberry 9300 curve- and an error message keeps coming up ‘congestion’, i can’t call out nor receive any calls. My txts seem to be working but not the calls
Call your carrier and complain 🙂 or try switching to 2G service as I described above.
