If you have Windows Vista 64 bit and you install the MS Winter Fun Pack 2004 to get the visualizations for Windows Media Player, then you will notice that they are not compatible with WMP like it claims.
You will start getting a Windows XP PowerToys error screen when your system starts up and it will prompt you for the location of the original msi file so it can reinstall. This will not work even if you have the msi file, so you will try to uninstall it and get the above Error 1713.
To uninstall you will need the “Windows Installer CleanUp Utility” which is located HERE.
You might get a VB Script error installing that program, but just click through it and you can install it and then run it and uninstall the Winter Fun Pack.
Afterwards, I would recommend uninstalling the CleanUp Utility.
The Windows Installer Cleanup Utility only removes the MSI information for a product. Which means that you have hundreds of files & registry keys still in place.
He’s correct, but really, who cares? The cleanup utility is faster and more reliable than tinkering in the Registry and deleting stuff manually. Why do extra work? Just run the Cleanup, remove the program, and get on with your life.
Perfect! This worked a treat, and I also deleted all reg files myself, took just 30 mins to get rid of the lot and remove the cleanup utility too. Thx!!
